Reskit has concentrated here the cockpit of the General Dynamics F-111C bomber in a form matching the early period of service and supplemented it with three-dimensional panel decals. The set is cut for the Academy kit and replaces the original interior of the nose with a more detailed assembly.
The Royal Australian Air Force ordered a version that added a longer wing and strengthened landing gear to the standard fuselage. The machine served for decades as the main strike asset and earned the nickname Pig in the country. As with the other members of the family, the crew sit side by side in a separable module that left the aircraft as a whole in an emergency, and that is exactly why the cockpit has such an unusual plan. The wide workspace with two sets of instruments is rewarding for a modeler, because it really is visible under a raised canopy.
The space is finished before the halves of the nose are glued together, so it pays to check dry first whether the shells will close without pressure. The castings are washed, the casting blocks cut off and the faces leveled. The panel decals are laid onto a smooth gloss ground and once dry it is advisable to unify them with the surroundings using matte varnish.
