F-14D Tomcat interior 3D decal (1:48, Quinta Studio)

A relief, full-color printed decal for the cockpit, not an airplane model. The set covers both cockpits of the two-seat Tomcat - the instrument panels, the side consoles, the seats and the harnesses are printed with raised three-dimensional detail and with colors straight from production, so they replace both painting and photo-etched parts. It is shaped for the 1:48 scale F-14D plastic kit from the manufacturer AMK.

The real subject

The Grumman F-14D Super Tomcat was the most modern version of the American carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing. Against the earlier variants it received more powerful engines and above all an upgraded, digital cockpit with displays in place of the older analog instruments. It closed the career of the legendary Tomcat in the US Navy. Here too the crew consisted of a pilot and a weapon systems officer.

Application

• First sand the plastic parts of both cockpits smooth - the 3D decal is applied directly onto them.
• Cut the element out, soak it briefly in lukewarm water and slide it off the carrier paper into place. Do not use a decal softener here, it harms the printed resin; save it for conventional decals.
• Press it down gently so the relief beds into the surface; work calmly, the parts are small.
• The work suits more advanced modelers.
