This set from the Eduard Brassin resin range contains finely cast landing gear wheels in 1:48 scale for the F-14D Tomcat carrier fighter. The set usually includes the main gear wheels as well as the nose wheels and a masking template for spraying. The wheels replace the plastic parts from the model with finer work and a faithful texture of the tread and the hub.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was an American two-seat carrier fighter with variable-geometry wings, used by the Navy from the 1970s. The F-14D Super Tomcat version was the highest-performing variant with more modern avionics and more powerful engines. The rugged landing gear matches operation from aircraft carriers.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent and cut the casting blocks off. They are glued with cyanoacrylate. The enclosed mask makes a clean transition between the tire and the hub easier. The wheels tend to be dark gray and the hubs are painted to suit the machine; the flattened shape of the tires gives a model on its gear a realistic look.
The detail set does not contain the aircraft model, paints or glue. Meant for more experienced modelers.
