This is a detail set in cast resin for the two-seat versions of the F-15 fighter in 1:48 scale. According to the name it represents the electronic equipment of the aircraft, that is the features which on the real machine are hidden under hinged panels and which on a plastic kit tend to be merely suggested or absent. It is not a model of an aircraft - the set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which you have to have or buy separately. The exact contents of the package and the list of parts are given on the packaging of the set.
Resin is cast into soft molds, so it can carry undercuts and fine edges that injection-molded plastic cannot. On open service compartments that shows most: the boxes, the blocks and the wiring have crisp shapes and a three-dimensional surface. The set makes sense above all if you plan to build the model with the panels open as a maintenance display, because a closed aircraft will show nothing of it. The set is developed for a particular F-15 kit in this scale, so check before building that it fits yours.
First wash the parts in warm soapy water; the surface tends to carry release agent from the mold and paint would not hold on it. Cut the casting blocks off with a modeling saw or a thin cutting disc and do not break them - resin is brittle. When sanding and cutting, use a respirator and sand wet; the dust must not be breathed in. It is glued exclusively with super glue; cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Before painting apply a thin base coat, and then come the dark washes and the dry brush, which bring out the depth in the small space of a bay. Test the parts dry and sand the plastic around them if need be, so that the fit does not have to be forced.
The set contains resin parts only. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
