A set of color relief 3D decals from Kelik for rendering the cockpit of the F-16CJ fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a model or a kit - these are thin, three-dimensionally shaped and color-printed decals carried on a film, which transfer the instrument panel, the side consoles and other elements of the pilot's compartment onto the parts of the kit without laborious painting. The set is designed for the F-16 kit from Tamiya and replaces painting as well as most of the photo-etched cockpit detail.

The real subject

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is an American single-engine multirole fighter with a characteristic bubble canopy and a side air intake. The F-16CJ (Block 50) version was specialized among other things in suppressing enemy air defenses. The cockpit with its single large frame and modern avionics is a rewarding target for detailed finishing.

Use and tips

• Clean and degrease the cockpit parts for good adhesion.
• Cut the individual elements out with a sharp knife close to the edge of the relief.
• Follow the instruction sheet designed for the kit in question.
• A decal softener will help the decals settle into the recesses and onto the edges.
