Eduard F-16C/N 1:48 (Color Photo-Etched Set)

This is not an aircraft kit but a detail accessory. The set contains photo-etched parts of thin metal sheet, some of them already color printed. It serves to raise markedly the fidelity of the cockpit and of other areas of a model of the F-16C fighter in 1:48 scale and is meant to be combined with a plastic kit of the matching type.

The real subject

The General Dynamics (later Lockheed Martin) F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engined multirole fighter of American design. The F-16C version is a single-seat modernized variant with advanced avionics; the F-16N designation refers to the machines used by the US Navy for air combat training (aggressor squadrons). The cockpit of the F-16 is characterized by its large bubble canopy and its side-mounted control stick.

Use and tips

• The color photo-etched parts are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with cement for plastic.
• Make the bends over a sharp edge or in a photo-etch bending tool for clean right angles.
• The pre-colored areas only need a light matting, or a coat to even out the sheen.
