An injection-molded plastic kit of the American two-seat F-4B Phantom II fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale from Tamiya. It is a completely new tooling with first-class fit of the parts and fine surface detail. The kit offers a number of optional positions: folding outer wing panels, movable horizontal tails, an open or closed canopy and an extended or retracted refueling probe. There are also parts for underwing missiles and a drop tank in the box.
The F-4 Phantom II was one of the most important jet combat aircraft of the second half of the twentieth century. The F-4B version was an early naval variant used by the US Navy and by the Marine Corps. A pair of powerful engines, a massive weapons load and a crew of two made the Phantom a universal machine used from the Vietnam War to the 1980s. Its characteristic features are the folded wingtips and the drooped horizontal tails.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit with both seats before you close the fuselage; use a mask for clean glazing of the canopy. Apply a primer before painting and put the colors on with an airbrush. On the gray and silvery naval schemes you will appreciate fine emphasis of the panel lines and discreet wear around the gun pods and the exhausts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
