This is not a kit but a small resin replacement part of the Quickboost brand from the Aires family. On the Phantom the tip of the fin is among the places by which one machine is told from another: in the course of production and later modifications the shaping of the cap at the top of the vertical tail changed. This casting represents the late form, and in the designation of the set that is the detail which sets it apart from the other variants of the same range.
A kit usually offers only one form of the fin tip, and a modeler building a particular machine from a photograph need not be matched by it. A resin replacement part is a quick way to bring a model into agreement with the real subject without having to sand the original shape down and reshape it with filler. At the same time the casting holds sharper edges and finer detail than a shape out of a split plastic mold.
Before you start, verify from photographs or a profile drawing of the machine which variant your subject carries; it is exactly that detail which decides the choice of set. Cut the original tip off with a saw at the place that corresponds to the mating surface of the part and level the surface wet. Wash the mold release agent off the casting and cut the casting block off, never break it. It is glued with super glue, and the seam is then filled and sanded back. Lay down a primer before painting; the part is then painted together with the tail surface, so that the shade and the gloss carry over.
The accessory is supplied unpainted, as a resin casting. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package. The variant of the cap is the distinguishing detail, so verify before buying which one you need.
