A resin detail set from the Brassin range by the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory with which you replace the landing gear wheels of a plastic kit of the F-4J Phantom II fighter. The resin castings bring a finer tire tread pattern and better worked hubs than injection-molded plastic usually offers.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is an American two-seat supersonic fighter, one of the most important combat aircraft of the Cold War. The F-4J version was the fighter variant of the US Navy and the US Marine Corps with improved radar and engines. On a model the wheels and tires are among the exposed places where detail pays off.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). If the wheels are cast with a hint of load, take care during fitting that the contact patch is turned correctly toward the ground. Paint them separately from the aircraft; the tires can be picked out with a dark wash and a light dusting of pigments.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
