Chaff and flare dispensers for the F-5E, F-5F, F-5N and RF-5E Tiger II are an add-on detail from the Quickboost brand in 1:48 scale. They are added to the lower part of the tail of your own model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from Quickboost adds dispensers for chaff and flares to a model of the light fighter, that is, a feature that kits often do not contain at all. It concerns the E, F and N versions and the reconnaissance RF-5E. You are buying a standalone detail for a model you already have under construction.
Decoys belong to the basic passive defense of combat aircraft: chaff confuses radar, while flares draw off missiles homing on heat. On the Tigers the dispensers were fitted to the lower rear part of the fuselage, where they did not get in the way of the other equipment. A number of users had them added only in the course of service, so their form differs from one country to another.
Before gluing, check the placement against a photograph of the particular machine, because this is exactly where the individual users diverge. Roughen the area on the fuselage lightly so that the joint holds, and settle the part parallel with the longitudinal axis. Paint them in the shade of the underside of the fuselage and finally add dark traces around the outlets, which will suggest use.
The dispensers were not part of the original fit. Most users had them added only during updates in the 1980s and 1990s, so a machine from an earlier period need not have them. On aircraft in the adversary role, by contrast, they appear commonly. Depending on the year you date the model to, decide therefore whether to use the part at all.
