Kelik 1:48 F-82 (F, G) is a decal set for a model of the twin-fuselage F-82 Twin Mustang fighter in the F and G versions in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The decal set is intended for models of the twin-fuselage F-82 Twin Mustang, specifically for the F and G night fighter versions. It is an accessory to a plastic kit, not the model itself. The decals let you finish the surface of the model where the sheets supplied in the box tend to be coarse, illegible or already aged.
The F-82 Twin Mustang came about by joining two fuselages derived from the P-51 fighter into a single long-range aircraft. The original intention was a long-distance escort fighter, but in service it was mainly the night and all-weather versions that made their mark. It was on those that the radar pod slung under the center section between the two fuselages appeared, and that is the most striking recognition feature. The F and G designations distinguish variants with different radar equipment. The machines served in the postwar period and were among the last piston fighters in the service of the US Air Force.
The basis is a smooth and glossy surface. Flat paint has a microscopically broken-up surface, air gets under the decal and silvering appears, that is a light milky edge around the motif. So spray the area with gloss varnish before applying. Release the decal in lukewarm water, move it into place with a brush and soak up the excess water. Apply the decal softener in thin coats, so that the motif is drawn onto the rivets and the engraved lines. On a twin-fuselage aircraft make sure the markings are symmetrical on both fuselages, as an asymmetry is instantly visible on this shape. Finally seal everything with a matte or semi-gloss varnish.
This is a standalone decal set, not a kit. The model, paints and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
