A set of photo-etched parts for a model of the North American F-86A Sabre jet fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The North American F-86 Sabre was the first American production fighter with a swept wing and a single jet engine. The F-86A version was the first production form and it made its name in the Korean War, where it clashed with MiG-15 fighters. The silhouette with the low-set air intake in the nose is among the best-known shapes of the early jet era.
The set brings photo-etched parts for a model of the F-86A Sabre in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch replaces the places where a plastic part is by its very nature too thick, and gives them the right thickness and crisp detail. The extent of the set and the purpose of the individual parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts on a hard surface with a sharp blade, not by twisting, or the photo-etch will deform. Make the bends along the scored line, best in a bender or between two blades. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, which you should apply in a really small amount, for example on the tip of a wire. Before painting, degrease the metal and use a primer suitable for metal, otherwise the finish will chip while the model is handled.
The set suits modelers who already have experience with photo-etch or who want to try it out carefully. Working with it calls for tweezers, a sharp blade and calm.
The package contains photo-etched parts only. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
