FLOP hand-launched glider, 275 mm is a small free-flight glider from the Pelikan brand. It has no motor and no radio control; it is launched by hand and flies in free flight.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small glider meant to be launched from the hand. The figure of 275 mm in the name is the wingspan, which makes the model one of the smallest hand-launched gliders made. It is not a radio-controlled model and not a powered airplane: once released it glides in free flight until it touches the ground. That simplicity is the main strength, as it can be flown in a garden, on a playground or in a gym.
The key to a good flight is balance and trim. The model is launched slightly upward rather than vertically, and with a smooth movement rather than a hard throw. If the airplane drops its nose toward the ground after release, it is nose-heavy and the ballast has to be reduced or the center of gravity moved back. If instead it rears up and falls into a stall, ballast at the front has to be added. Bending the trailing edge of the elevator slightly up or down will level the flight faster than anything else. Fly in still air or in a light breeze, as small hand-launched gliders are sensitive to gusts.
Small hand-launched gliders take a beating on every landing. It pays to check the leading edges and the joints after each flying session and to treat any scuffs at once. If the model lands in tall grass or in water, let it dry out thoroughly, otherwise the wing may warp and the flying qualities will drift.
This is not a radio-controlled model. A transmitter, a power system and batteries are not supplied with this type of model and are not needed.
