A photo-etched set for a model of the F-86F Sabre jet fighter in production blocks 25 and 30, 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The North American F-86 Sabre was an American jet fighter with a swept wing and the best-known American aircraft of the Korean War. Its armament was six heavy machine guns in the nose, and the pilot sat under a sliding canopy with a good view to the rear. The F version was the most numerous and was built in several production blocks; the designations F-25 and F-30 belong to two of them and differ in details of equipment and in the plant that built them.
Etched parts in thin metal replace the places where plastic is necessarily thicker than the real thing: thin sheet metal, bulkheads, brackets and small controls. In 1:48 scale these are often parts a few millimeters across, but once fitted they change the impression of a finished model considerably. The list of parts and the kit the set is drawn for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Leave the fret whole until you actually need a part; loose pieces are easily lost. Cut with a sharp blade right at the tab on a hard surface and sand the rest. Make the bends along the scored line and help yourself with a bending tool or two blades. Glue the metal with a minute amount of cyanoacrylate glue, and larger areas with epoxy. Degrease the surface before painting and lay a base coat down, or the paint will not hold on smooth metal.
For modelers of 1950s jet fighters who want to take the Sabre beyond what the box holds and do not mind working with tweezers. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
