A resin engine for the F4F-4 Wildcat in 1:48 scale from the maker Quickboost: a detail accessory for experienced modelers, not an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin casting of the air-cooled radial engine for the American F4F Wildcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from the Quickboost brand. It is not an aircraft model but an accurate replacement part for experienced modelers that replaces the simplified engine from a kit with a faithful casting with detail of the cylinders, the lines and the ancillaries. The part comes into its own on a build with the engine cowling open, when the powerplant is in view.
The F4F Wildcat was the basic carrier fighter of the US Navy in the first years of the Pacific war; it was powered by a reliable fourteen-cylinder radial engine. The engine area with faithfully rendered cylinders is a rewarding detail that gives a model authenticity. The casting is meant to refine an existing Wildcat model in the same scale, not as a stand-alone kit.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue. Cut off the casting blocks with a sharp knife or a saw, sand the surfaces and protect your airways when sanding resin. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Spray the engine with a base color, set the cylinders and the lines apart in metallic shades and deepen the whole with a dark wash; pick out the fine lines with a dry brush.
It is supplied as an unpainted resin accessory for completing a model. Glue, paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
