1:48 F4U-1D - Seatbelts is a set of pilot's seat belts for 1:48 models of the Vought Corsair carrier fighter in the F4U-1D version.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set deals with the pilot's restraint and with nothing else. It is a typical targeted intervention into an interior: quick and at the same time visible, because under a slid-back canopy the restraint is the first thing the viewer registers.
The Corsair is very often built with an open cockpit, so that the profile of the spine and the frame of the canopy stand out. That is exactly when it shows how the seat looks. A molded imitation of a restraint tends to be flat and merges with the backrest, whereas belts laid into a shape of their own have depth and cast a shadow. The accessory can moreover be fitted even to a model you already have nearly finished, as long as you have not yet put the canopy on.
You recognize the Vought F4U Corsair at first glance by its inverted gull wing, which came about because of the enormous propeller and the need for a reasonably short landing gear. Under the cowling worked the radial Pratt and Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp. The F4U-1D version came about as a fighter bomber form with an improved view from the cockpit and with pylons under the center of the wing, which made it possible to carry an auxiliary fuel tank or unguided rockets. It was precisely these machines that formed the backbone of the deployment of the Marine Corps and the Navy in the closing stage of the fighting in the Pacific.
The set is intended for modelers who want to bring the cockpit of a displayed Corsair to completion in detail.
