1:48 de Havilland Chipmunk T.10 is an Eduard photo-etched set — an accessory in thin metal sheet for refining the details of a model of the trainer aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is not a kit but an accessory: a sheet of photo-etched parts in thin metal that replaces those elements of a model where injection-molded plastic is necessarily thick-walled. In 1:48 scale a plastic part a few tenths of a millimeter thick means centimeters on the real aircraft — photo-etched parts remove that disproportion and sharp edges stay sharp. The target kit is not stated here, so check before ordering that the set matches the model you are building.
The DHC-1 Chipmunk is a Canadian single-engine low-wing aircraft with tandem seats. The Royal Air Force brought it into service under the designation T.10 and used it for basic training for decades; many machines fly in civilian hands today. Through the cabin under the long glazed canopy both stations are visible, so the interior is markedly more visible on a Chipmunk model than on machines with a closed cabin — and that is exactly where photo-etched parts show up most.
Cut the parts out of the sheet with a sharp knife on a hard surface, not with small pliers — pliers bend the sheet. Level the place of the cut with a file. Make the bends in a bender or at least between two razor blades; bending photo-etched parts freehand means a wavy edge. Degrease the sheet with alcohol before gluing and do not touch it with bare fingers. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin, not with a drop from the bottle. Metal only holds paint after a primer, ideally after a base coat from a spray can or an airbrush.
This is an accessory set, not a model of an aircraft. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
