Quickboost replacement exhausts for a model of the American carrier-based F4U-5 Corsair fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Vought F4U Corsair is an American single-seat carrier-based fighter, recognizable at a glance by its wing cranked down and up again, the so-called inverted gull wing. The F4U-5 version is one of the postwar configurations with a long nose and with the exhausts led out along the sides of the engine cowling. On a finished model those outlets are black spots that the eye notices sooner than fine panel work.
Replacement exhausts for an F4U-5 model in 1:48 scale, fitted in place of the parts from the kit. The advantage is a crisper shape in a place where the plastic part tends to be thickened and rounded. The manufacturer's instructions give the scope of the package and the placement of the parts.
Cut the plastic parts from the kit away and level the opening so that the new part seats without a gap. Cut surplus material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. They are bonded with super glue; polystyrene cement does not hold on them. Fit them only once the fuselage is painted, and watch that the angle of the pipes matches on both sides; exhausts seated asymmetrically show when the model is viewed from above.
For builders of postwar Corsairs who want their exhausts crisp and open, and for those working with older kits with coarser parts. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
