An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The model captures a robust machine with a radial engine and a characteristic mid-mounted wing. Eduard issues this type in several editions, among others the ProfiPACK and the simpler Weekend: check the exact edition, the package contents and the accessories (photo-etched parts, masks) against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The F6F Hellcat was one of the most successful American carrier fighters of the Second World War and contributed decisively to superiority in the Pacific war. The F6F-5 version was the most numerous modification, with refined aerodynamics and the powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine. The machine was tough, well armed and operated from the decks of US Navy aircraft carriers.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and sand the seams carefully. Paint and highlight the cockpit interior before closing up the fuselage. Carrier machines wore dark blue naval camouflage: after the gloss coat and the decals, accentuate the panel lines with a wash and add wear in keeping with intensive service from a deck.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
