Plastic kit Eduard 1:48 F6F-5 Hellcat Weekend Edition — an American Second World War carrier fighter in a simplified edition.
Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the carrier fighter Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat in 1:48 scale by the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The Weekend Edition is a simplified version of the proven tooling: it includes the plastic parts and a decal sheet, but without the photo-etched parts and masks that come with the premium editions. It makes for a more straightforward build, suited to a quicker weekend project too.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was a rugged single-seat carrier fighter of the US Navy that, from 1943, entered service in the Pacific as a counter to Japanese fighters. It was powered by a potent Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine, which gave it strong climb performance, durability and firepower. The F6F-5 version was the most numerous and most capable variant, with aerodynamic refinements and stronger armament; the Hellcat became one of the most successful carrier fighters of the war.
Glue the plastic parts with a thin liquid modeling cement, and let the fuselage and wing joints dry thoroughly before filling. Before spraying, we recommend priming the surface and applying colors with an airbrush – on the blue naval finish (Glossy Sea Blue), subtle shading and weathering really stand out. Carrier fighters reward a wash in the panel seams and light chipping along the leading edges and around the cockpit.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
