An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The box contains gray and clear plastic with finely engraved panel lines and rivet detail, a cockpit and decals for several marking options. The compact, purposeful silhouette of the Bearcat makes the model a rewarding piece in a collection.
The F8F Bearcat was an American carrier fighter of the end of the Second World War and the postwar years, built around a powerful radial engine in a very compact and light airframe. The aim was to achieve exceptional rate of climb and agility for the defense of aircraft carriers. Among other things, the F8F-2 version brought a taller vertical tail and further refinements. The Bearcat became famous for its outstanding flight performance.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage. Apply a primer before painting and spray the paints with an airbrush; masking film makes clean canopy glazing easier. With the glossy dark blue naval schemes you will appreciate a smooth base and a light emphasis of the panel lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
