A precise turned metal accessory for a model of the Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. The set replaces the plastic muzzle of the seven-barrel GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannon and the plastic Pitot tube with fine metal parts, usually with photo-etched collars added. This is not an aircraft model but a detail replacement part.
The metal parts have a sharp muzzle true to its axis, without mold seams, and a fine bore that plastic cannot reach. The Pitot tube is straight, slim and more resistant to bending. The conspicuous muzzle of the cannon, one of the most striking features of the A-10, thus gains a realistic look.
Cut off the plastic muzzle and tube, drill holes into the remaining parts and glue the metal parts in with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Fit the photo-etched collars onto the barrel cluster if you wish.
This is an add-on detail set, not a complete kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
