A printed replacement ejection seat in 1:48 scale for a model of the Fairchild A-10C Thunderbolt II attack aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-10 Thunderbolt II is an attack aircraft built for direct support of ground units. The pilot's cockpit is protected by an armored tub, the airframe will take a hit and the machine keeps low and slow where other types cannot hold their own. In the nose it carries a seven-barrel 30 mm rotary cannon, around which the whole aircraft is literally built. The C version is the upgraded form with a reworked cockpit.
The set brings an ejection seat as a replacement for a kit part. The PRINT designation in the name means that the part is printed, that is made by layering resin rather than injected into a mold. Printing manages fine points that an injection mold cannot: thin frames, sharp edges and the three-dimensional relief of the straps and the controls.
The part is on print supports. Cut them off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully so that the surface is not damaged. Printed resin is not polystyrene and plastic cement will not join it, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Wash the part in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap before painting and let it dry so that no residual film is left on the surface. A primer will improve the adhesion of the shade.
The seat is visible close up in an open cockpit, so even a smaller investment in detail pays off. The work is simple; it is mainly about removing the supports cleanly and painting patiently. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
