Responsibility details are not available.
The Fairey Firefly Mk.I is a British two-seat carrier fighter and reconnaissance aircraft of the Second World War, which served with the Fleet Air Arm. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Griffon V12 engine. The crew consisted of a pilot and an observer, each in his own cockpit one behind the other, and the wing could be folded back along the fuselage for life aboard ship. The glazing of the machine is divided into several parts, so masking it takes more work than on a single-seat fighter.
According to the name, two sets of masks for the cockpit glazing, that is one for the outside and one for the inside of the panes, and with them three masks for national insignia. Inside masking is a detail that shows only on a finished model: without it the color of the frames shows through from inside and the cockpit looks stuck onto the fuselage. The insignia masks allow the insignia to be sprayed instead of a decal being applied, so no edge of carrier film is left on the surface. The number of parts, and the kit the masks are cut for, are given by the manufacturer.
Stick the masks onto clean, degreased glass before spraying and press the edges down firmly so that paint does not run under them. Seat the glass in the fuselage first and sand the gap around it, and only then mask. Spray in thin coats and direct the nozzle from the edge of the mask inwards, not across it. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has dried; after several days it comes away less easily. With the insignia masks, spray a light base first, or a deep color will spread into blotches over dark masking.
The kit, paints and decals are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
