A more extensive photo-etched set from Eduard for a 1:48 model of the Fairey Fulmar Mk.II carrier-based fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A fret of photo-etched metal parts for building a 1:48 model of the British Fairey Fulmar Mk.II carrier aircraft. The set does not replace the model, it adds to it: metal parts stand in where plastic would have to stay thicker than the real thing. The code places the item in the more extensive photo-etched range that Eduard runs alongside the narrower Zoom sets.
The Fulmar was a two-seat carrier fighter of the Fleet Air Arm, in service from 1940. The second man in the rear cockpit worked as an observer and navigator, which over the open sea was worth more than agility. It was the long range and the endurance that made the machine a reliable escort for convoys, even though it came off worse in a fight with land-based fighters. The Mk.II version is a later and more powerful form of the same aircraft.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand off the fret tab remnant. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), because polystyrene cement does not hold on metal. Make the bends in a photo-etch bender or between two blades and try the exact position dry beforehand. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and apply a primer.
For builders of British carrier aircraft who want deeper detail than the box gives. The manufacturer also makes a narrower Zoom set of the same name under the code FE1467, so the code is what tells the two apart. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
