A seat with belts is the quickest way to raise the level of a cockpit. On these castings the belts are part of the piece, so there is no photo-etch to fold and no paper strips to glue on — all you have to do is paint the seat and set it in place. The resin casting in 1:48 scale has a thinner shell and more readable detail than a split injection die can manage. Quickboost is a range of simple accessories for one particular problem, which even a less experienced modeler can handle. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for the cockpit.
The Fairey Firefly Mk.I was a British two-seat carrier fighter and reconnaissance aircraft of the Second World War with a Rolls-Royce Griffon engine. The crew consisted of a pilot and an observer in separate spaces one behind the other, so the interior has two different parts and the seats are among the things best seen under the glazing. The machine was designed for operation from aircraft carriers and served in carrier aviation.
Wash the castings in soapy water and let them dry, otherwise paint will not hold on the mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw as close to the part as you can and sand the remainder away. Start the painting with a primer and the base shade of the seat; then paint the belts separately in a lighter tone and bring out the fittings on them with a metal shade applied with the tip of a brush. A dark wash in the recesses and fine dry brushing of the edges will add relief. On the seat cushion it pays to suggest light wear and a more matte surface.
This is an accessory for modelers, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
