A photo-etched set of accessories for a model of the FM-1 Wildcat carrier fighter, in the British Martlet Mk.V rendition, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched part is produced by etching a shape into a thin metal sheet. It is therefore noticeably thinner than its plastic counterpart, and in 1:48 scale it looks more convincing everywhere the real subject is meant to be of thin material. Metal also holds its shape after bending, so elements that could not be molded in plastic can be made from it. The composition of the parts and their placement on the model is described in the enclosed instructions.
The FM-1 is a Wildcat carrier fighter from the production of the General Motors corporation; the Fleet Air Arm operated it under the name Martlet Mk.V. The machine has a short stubby fuselage with a radial engine, a high-set cockpit with good visibility to the sides and a narrow landing gear that was retracted by hand into the sides of the fuselage. Compared with the older F4F-4 version, the FM-1 carries four barrels instead of six, thanks to which more rounds fell to each of them and the fire could last longer. The qualifier British version in the name sets apart the set for the British form of the machine.
The aircraft kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
