LööK is a separate accessory range from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, and it differs from the classic photo-etched sets in its approach. Where a full photo-etched set gives the modeler flat brass sheet to bend, paint and assemble, LööK is built on a finished resin instrument panel with a color finish and on ready-made seat belts. Fitting it therefore takes a few minutes instead of a whole evening. To tell the range apart: photo-etched sets are metal and more demanding, the Zoom range is a narrowed selection of photo-etched parts, masks are self-adhesive templates for glazing, and combined sets join several sets together. Of them all, LööK is the quickest route to greater cockpit detail.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190A was a German single-engine fighter of the Second World War with the BMW 801 radial engine, a wide landing gear track and a robust airframe. The A-6 version belongs to the A development line and is associated with changes to the wing and the armament. The cockpit of the type is interesting for a modeler because on a finished model it tends to be clearly visible through the sliding canopy, so work on the instrument panel and the belts really tells.
Start by washing the resin panel in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw and level the surface on abrasive paper laid on glass, so that the panel sits flat. Dry-fit the assembly before seating it; usually the original plastic panel from the kit has to be sanded away. It is glued with cyanoacrylate. The color finish of the panel is not repainted, only protected with a flat clear coat at the end. Shape the seat belts over a round object so that they read as relaxed and do not stand up like a board.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
