This is not a kit of the aircraft but a mask set for the Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8 kit from Eduard in 1:48; the masks are made by the Art Scale brand. The shapes in the set match the glazing frames of the Eduard kit, so the most time-consuming part of the work falls away when painting: masking off every frame by hand. The marking one-sided means that the set deals with the outer side of the glazing; the double-sided variants, which cover the inside of the canopy as well, are listed by the manufacturer separately.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was a German fighter with a BMW 801 radial engine, which differed from the slender inline-engine fighters of its day in its stubby nose, its wide-track landing gear and its pleasant handling at higher speeds. Pilots also liked the roomy cockpit with its good view and the modern electrical operation of a number of systems. The A-8 version of 1944 was the most numerously built variant of the whole A series. It carried cannons in the wing and machine guns above the engine, it counted on an additional tank in the fuselage, and in the forms meant against bomber formations it was given add-on armor for the cockpit.
The masks are placed on the glazing before the paint is sprayed, onto a clean and degreased surface. It is a good idea to press the edges down carefully so that paint does not creep under them, and to remove them best of all soon after drying, while the layer of paint is still flexible. Pointed tweezers and a toothpick will do most of the work.
