It is a garden set, that is small outdoor furniture with which a yard, a garden behind a house or a terrace in the civilian part of a scene is furnished. The accessory is not a kit of an aircraft or a vehicle — it is stand-alone equipment for a scene, set into a finished diorama.
Garden furniture is one of the few objects that give a diorama a civilian, lived-in character at once. Between a house and military vehicles it creates a contrast that makes the whole scene more legible: a viewer can tell that the action is not taking place on a training ground but in an inhabited place. It works well at rural and suburban buildings, at farmyards, on terraces and by garden walls. In larger scenes it is often an advantage not to set the furniture up tidily in a row but to leave one piece pushed aside or overturned — disorder looks more natural than symmetry.
Cut the parts off the casting block with a fine-toothed saw, sand the cuts back and wash them in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Ordinary plastic cement does not hold on resin parts — use cyanoacrylate glue, that is super glue. Lay down a thin primer and paint according to the material you want to suggest: with wood a base brown tone works well, with thin coats of lighter shades over it and finally a dark wash into the joints, and with metal a smooth finish with a hint of scuffed edges. Garden furniture stands outdoors, so it benefits from mild weathering — a little dust on the legs and marks from rain on the horizontal surfaces.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
