A decal sheet for a model of the General Dynamics FB-111A bomber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The FB-111A was the bomber variant of the General Dynamics F-111. The machine has a variable-geometry wing, which spreads for takeoff and landing and sweeps back toward the fuselage for fast flight, and a two-man crew seated side by side. In US Air Force service it was used for long-range strike missions, and its robust shape is one of the most distinctive silhouettes of the Cold War.
The sheet is done in 1:48 scale and is intended for a model of the FB-111A. Compare the make-up of the markings and the number of variants it covers with the illustration on the packaging; use that to plan what to apply before the final clear coat and what only after it.
The following procedure has proved itself with decal sheets: first give the spot where the decal will go a coat of gloss clear so that no white patches form under the film. Cut the decal out as close to the print as possible and dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds. As soon as it releases from the paper, move it into place, blot off the excess water with a paper towel and let it dry. Decal softener helps bed the decal into recesses and rivets. Finally, give the whole part a matte or semi-gloss clear coat so that the glossy layer under the decal disappears. Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is a self-adhesive version, because a soaked self-adhesive film is ruined.
The package contains a decal sheet. The kit, paints, clear coats and decal softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
