A resin detail set from the Brassin line of the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale. It is not a model in its own right but an accessory, with which you will fit a model of a German submarine with a precise deck gun of 8.8 cm caliber. The set combines resin parts and photo-etched elements, thanks to which the weapon gains fine details of the barrel, the mount and the sighting mechanisms beyond the possibilities of injection-molded plastic.
The deck gun of 8.8 cm caliber was the main artillery armament of the German Type VIIC submarines during the Second World War. It was placed on the deck in front of the conning tower and served to destroy smaller or unarmed targets on the surface, where it did not pay off to use a torpedo. With the growth of Allied air patrols and convoy escort its importance fell, because the submarines had to attack unseen below the surface.
Wash the resin parts clean of the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Bend the fine photo-etched elements over an edge and glue them with glue laid on in a small amount. We recommend painting the gun separately, where dark gray naval shades filled out with rusty and salt effects typical of service at sea are suitable.
This is an accessory for a model of a submarine. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
