This resin set from the Quickboost brand of the maker Aires brings a faithfully cast air scoop (intake) for a model of the British twin-engine Gloster Javelin fighter in the FAW.9 and FAW.9R versions in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model, but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers that replaces the simplified plastic part with a crisp casting with the right lip shape and duct depth.

The real subject

The Gloster Javelin was a British twin-engine two-seat all-weather fighter with a delta wing and a high-set tailplane, powered by Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire jet engines. It served with the Royal Air Force from the mid-1950s as the first dedicated all-weather interceptor. The FAW.9 version was the last production variant, and the FAW.9R additionally received a probe for in-flight refueling.

Tips for working with resin

First wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release residue from the mold is removed. Cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the cut surface with respiratory protection. Glue the part with cyanoacrylate glue, not with cement for plastic.
