An add-on set of the main fuel tank for a model of the Gloster Meteor F Mk.8/9 jet aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Gloster Meteor was the first British production jet fighter and the only Allied jet aircraft to see combat in the Second World War. The postwar F Mk.8 version received a lengthened fuselage, revised tail surfaces and an ejection seat, and in the early 1950s it became the backbone of British fighter aviation. The pair of engines buried in the wing gives the Meteor a silhouette that cannot be mistaken for anything else.
The set adds the main fuel tank to the model and is listed for the F Mk.8/9 versions in 1:48 scale. The tank is a part that substantially changes the shape of the underside on a finished model, so it is worth spending time on its fit. Dry-fit it first, check the alignment against the fuselage from the side and from behind, and only then glue it; fill any gap and sand the seam smooth. The range of the set and the order of assembly are given in the manufacturer instructions.
The parts are not polystyrene, so bond them with super glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder flush. Wash and degrease the surface before painting, otherwise neither the primer nor the top coat will hold. The smooth surface of the tank reveals every imperfection, so it pays to go over it with fine paper and lay down a primer before you start on the shade.
The add-on set is supplied on its own. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
