A plastic model of the small British experimental jet aircraft Gloster in 1:48 scale. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
Squirt is one of the nicknames given to the small British experimental aircraft Gloster E.28/39. It was a purely experimental single-seat machine, built in order to test a completely new powerplant in the air: a single jet engine with a centrifugal compressor. It took air in through a circular intake in the nose, the jet pipe came out at the rear and the aircraft stood on nosewheel landing gear. During the Second World War it became the first British aircraft to take off on jet power, but it never went into combat.
The kit is intended to be glued and painted, not to be played with. Even in 1:48 scale the small aircraft comes out as a small model, so it fits into a display cabinet even where there is no room for large fighters.
Always dry-fit the parts before gluing and sand the contact faces as needed, so that you do not have to deal with the gaps with filler later. Mask the canopy before spraying and glue it on only at the end. The smooth surface of the subject forgives very little, so apply the paint in thin coats and sand the joints of the fuselage carefully. You will find the detailed sequence of steps in the instructions of the manufacturer.
The model will please anyone interested in the beginnings of jet flying and in British designs that stayed in the shadow of better known production types. The package contains only the kit; paints, glue and filler are not included, unless stated otherwise.
