The pair of seats 1:48 GRU-7A early, 2 ejection seats for F-14 A from Quinta Studio is cut for the Tomcat kits of the Tamiya and Hobby Boss brands.
Responsibility details are not available.
The box holds two ejection seats of the GRU-7A type in the early version, that is the complete fitting out of the cockpit of a two-seat carrier-borne fighter. The set is cut for the Tamiya and Hobby Boss kits. This is stated because Quinta Studio offers four very similar items alongside one another, and it is precisely the designation for a particular kit that is the only thing reliably telling them apart.
The Tomcat came about as a carrier-borne interceptor meant to protect carrier groups against anti-ship missiles. A variable-geometry wing allowed it to take off from and land on a deck and at the same time to reach high speeds; the radar and long-range missiles made it the longest-shooting machine of its day. Two men sat in the cockpit: the pilot in front, the weapons systems operator behind, without whose work the aircraft's potential could not be used. That is exactly why there are two seats in the box.
The Tomcat's cockpit is excellently visible under its large clear canopy, so it pays to finish the seats carefully. It works well to set the padding apart from the load-bearing structure, to give the straps an irregular run and to bring out the handles of the ejection system with black and yellow striping, which was unmistakable on naval machines.
The kit of the aircraft and the paints are not included.
