Eduard 1:48 Grumman F4F-3 engine early PRINT is a printed engine set for a model of the F4F-3 Wildcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. It replaces the simplified engine from the kit with a detailed part.

This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard contains an engine for a model of the Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat carrier fighter in 1:48 scale, in a configuration matching the early version of the real machine. The PRINT designation means that the parts are made by printing, which allows details unattainable with a conventional mold: separate exhausts, fine plumbing and three-dimensional cylinders of the radial engine. And on this type the engine is clearly visible through the short cowling, so the difference against the part from the kit is immediately apparent.
The Grumman F4F Wildcat was an American carrier fighter of all-metal construction, recognizable by its barrel-shaped fuselage and by the hand-cranked landing gear that retracted into the sides of the fuselage. The F4F-3 version was powered by an air-cooled Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp radial engine. The short engine cowling with its cutouts and openings leaves the front row of cylinders, the gearbox and part of the auxiliary equipment visible on the finished model.
The printed parts are fine and fragile, so cut them off the supporting structures with a sharp scalpel or a saw and never snap them off. Wash the parts and apply a primer before painting. Paint the engine in stages: a basic dark shade, then dry brushing on the edges of the cylinders and finally a dark wash into the recesses so that the finning stands out. Fit and finish the engine before you close up the cowling, and keep checking the view through the cutouts as you go.
This is an add-on to a model, not an aircraft kit. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
