At Eduard the LööKplus line is a bundle that combines its color-printed resin LööK instrument panel with further resin accessories for the same type of aircraft. You are therefore buying a set of details, not a kit: the base model of the Wildcat in 1:48 scale has to be owned or obtained separately. The maker is the Czech company Eduard, which builds this line on a combination of 3D printing and color printing.
The Grumman F4F Wildcat was a carrier-borne fighter of the US Navy with an all-metal fuselage, a radial engine and a characteristically narrow landing gear retracting into the sides of the fuselage. The F4F-3 version was the first widely produced variant and, unlike the later machines, it had a fixed, non-folding wing. It was deployed in the first year of the war in the Pacific and bore the main weight of the fighting at a time when its opponent was more agile Japanese equipment. The designation early refers to the early production form of the machine, which differs from the later batches in detail.
First wash the resin and printed parts in lukewarm soapy water to rid them of residue from manufacture, and cut them away from the casting blocks or print supports with a sharp tool. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. The color-printed panel is not painted any more: it goes on straight away and only needs the instruments brought out gently with a drop of gloss varnish, so that the dials look glazed. Always try the parts dry before gluing them into the fuselage: the cockpit on injection-molded kits tends to be tight and the inner walls sometimes have to be thinned.
The set is supplied without the base kit. Glue, paints and the model of the aircraft are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
