Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat folding wings (3D printed) are a resin detail set in 1:48 scale from Eduard. They let you build the model with the wings folded into the carrier position and reveal the inner structure of the hinge.
Responsibility details are not available.
A more demanding resin accessory made by direct 3D printing that lets you show the characteristic folding wings of the Wildcat in the carrier (folded) position. It is not an aircraft kit but a conversion set of parts replacing the fixed plastic wings. The Wildcat used the original Sto-Wing mechanism, in which the wings folded back along the fuselage with a twisting motion - and that is exactly what this set renders faithfully.
Folding wings allowed more machines to be stowed in the hangar of an aircraft carrier. Their inner structure, the hinges and the mechanism make a striking visual feature on a model on display. The set opens up detail that stays hidden with the wings closed.
This is work for more experienced modelers. Separate the parts carefully from the print carriers, wash them and sand them with your airways protected. Glue them with super glue and watch the correct angle and the symmetry of both sides when folding. Paint the inner surfaces and the mechanism before closing the assembly so you can reach every spot.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the basic model are not included in the package.
