This resin accessory of the Quickboost brand brings a precisely cast side door of the cockpit for a model of the British Hawker Hurricane Mk.I fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but a replacement part that takes the place of the thicker plastic door from the box with a thinner casting with a faithful thickness and a fine detail on the inner face.

What the part is for

The Hurricane had a hinged door on the left side of the fuselage that made it easier to climb into the cockpit, a characteristic feature of the type. With the door open, both the door and its inner face are clearly visible. The plastic parts from the box tend to be too thick; a resin casting with a faithful edge thickness and a hint of the internal stiffener looks far more convincing on an open cockpit.

Usage tips

First wash the resin part in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent to remove any mold release residue. Carefully cut off the casting block with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond the part with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Before gluing, check the fit against the fuselage and decide on the open or the closed position; pick out the inner face with shading.
