Replacement wheels with weighted tires for a model of the Buccaneer in 1:48 scale. The model sits on the ground under its own weight instead of on perfectly round rims.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Buccaneer was a British two-seat strike aircraft, intended originally for carrier service and later for land-based units as well. It was built for attack from low altitude and at high speed, which is reflected in its robust airframe and in landing gear sized for a hard touchdown on a deck. Landing gear of that kind stands on wheels on which the load shows: the tire flattens at the ground and stands on an area, not on a single point.
The set brings replacement wheels with tires that have the flattening already formed into the part. They replace the wheels from the kit, where the tire is usually perfectly round and the model therefore looks as though it were merely touching the ground. The extent of the set and the kit it is cut for are stated in the manufacturer's instructions; it pays to check the wheels against the particular kit before buying, because the hub diameter and the shape of the fork differ between releases.
The parts are not polystyrene, so cement for polystyrene will not bond them; use super glue. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off carefully, so as not to damage the tread. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the coat peels off the smooth surface. When gluing, make sure the flattening points down toward the ground and is turned the same way on both wheels.
A set of wheels is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
