About product

Aires Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB — gun bay (1:48)

A resin detail set from Aires for 1:48 scale. This is not an airplane model but an aftermarket accessory. It replaces the closed leading edge of the wing with an open armament bay with finely cast parts of the weapons, their mounting and the inner structure, usually complemented by fine photo-etched parts.

The real subject

The Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB was a British fighter-bomber of the Second World War period with its armament in the wings. It made its mark above all in the role of attacking ground targets.

Building and painting tips

Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and bond with super glue. An open bay calls for careful cleaning up of the cutout in the wing and for painting the inside before it is closed. Protect your airways when sanding resin.

Who the set is for

  • For modelers who want an open and detailed armament bay.
  • For more experienced builders who work with resin and photo-etched parts.

The plastic kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.

FAQ

Opening the armament bay in the wing of the Typhoon and fitting it with detailed resin parts of the weapons and their mounting.

No. It is an accessory for a separately bought plastic Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB kit in 1:48 scale.

Resin parts are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and the cutout in the wing has to be cleaned up carefully.
