The printed Hs 129 exhausts in 1:48 scale from 3DF replace the plastic parts from the Hasegawa and Hobby 2000 kits and give the engine nacelles of the ground-attack aircraft faithful detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
These are replacement parts made by 3D printing, not an aircraft kit. The set offers the exhausts of the German Henschel Hs 129 ground-attack aircraft from the Hasegawa and Hobby 2000 kits in 1:48 scale, with open openings and fine definition that injection-molded plastic does not usually achieve.
The Henschel Hs 129 was a twin-engined ground-attack aircraft built around a single task, destroying ground targets and armored vehicles. The pilot sat in an armored cockpit with a very cramped view, and the airframe was designed to take hits from anti-aircraft fire. Production aircraft of the B version were powered by radial engines of French origin, which were available in large numbers but were sensitive to dust and to breakdowns. The aircraft was used above all on the Eastern Front and in the Mediterranean, where it formed the backbone of specialized anti-tank squadrons. The exhausts on it are clearly visible and greatly affect the impression the engine nacelles give.
The printed parts are accurate in shape but more brittle than plastic, so handle them with care. Cut the remains of the supports off with a sharp knife and level the surfaces with a sanding sponge; wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting and let them dry through. Secure the joint with super glue. A dark base coat complemented by rusty and sooty shades catches the metallic look well; the area around the exhausts on the real aircraft was usually heavily smoke-stained.
