1:48 IA 58 Pucará, masks for the national insignia and markings of the Argentine ground-attack aircraft with a pair of turboprop engines.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of masks for spraying the national insignia and markings of the IA 58 Pucará ground-attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. An insignia applied in paint merges with the surface of the model, has no carrier film of its own and does not wrinkle on a curved fuselage or over raised rivets. For a collector who is bothered by a glossy outline around a roundel it is the surest route to a clean result.
The Pucará was created in Argentina as a specialized counter-insurgency and reconnaissance aircraft. A pair of turboprop engines, fixed gun armament in the nose and a heavy landing gear let it take off from short grass strips far from permanent bases. The two-man crew sits in tandem under long glazing that gives a view forward and down. Besides the fixed weapons it could carry a load on pylons under the fuselage and under the wing, so it stayed over a target for a long time and attacked repeatedly. It drew the most attention through its combat use over the South Atlantic in 1982.
The insignia are sprayed onto finished camouflage that is perfectly cured and smooth; through a rough matte surface the paint seeps under the edge of the stencil. On multicolored insignia the work goes coat by coat, from the light area to the dark one, with enough time to dry between the individual steps. Before lifting the stencil off, run a fingernail along the edge so that the paint breaks exactly at the edge and not a little way off. The kit the set is cut for is given in the name of the item.
