A replacement wheel set in 1:48 scale with the flattening of a load. An accessory for a plastic aircraft kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Wheels from a kit tend to be perfectly round, but a real aircraft stands on its tires and the bottom of the wheel is flattened under its weight. The difference is small, yet the eye catches it at once: a model on stock wheels seems to float a little above the surface, while a model on flattened wheels stands on it. That is exactly the detail this set deals with.
Replacement wheels in 1:48 scale with a flattened contact patch that take the place of the parts from the box. The set belongs to a range that covers wheels for various types of aircraft. Which kit it fits exactly is best checked against the manufacturer's information for the set and against the diameter of the wheels on your model, ideally before you start on the landing gear.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the outline of the wheel stays round. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue to suit the material of the part; on parts that are not polystyrene, super glue has proved itself. Seat the wheel dry and turn it so that the flattening points to the ground and the model stands level on its wheels. Paint the tire a dark gray rather than pure black, mask the hub off separately and add fine dust on the contact patch.
For modelers who build aircraft in 1:48 scale and want to set a model on a base convincingly. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
