Injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet armored ground-attack aircraft Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik in 1:48 scale from the Japanese company Tamiya. The model faithfully captures the two-seat cockpit interior and offers a generous load of external stores, two figures, several marking options and masking templates for the canopy glazing.
The Il-2 Shturmovik was the main Soviet ground-attack aircraft of the Second World War, nicknamed the flying tank. The armor was part of the airframe structure itself and protected the cockpit, the engine and the fuel tank. With more than 36000 built it is one of the most widely produced military aircraft in history. It was used for attacks on ground targets, tanks and columns, above all on the Eastern Front.
Paint and complete the two-seat cockpit before you close the fuselage. Use liquid cement on the plastic, treat the surface with primer and spray with an airbrush. Mask the canopy glazing with the templates supplied. Give attention to the propeller and the external stores; create the final weathering with washes and pigments for a worn and muddy effect.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
