Responsibility details are not available.
A set of precisely die-cut self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the Japanese Nakajima J1N1 Gekko type 11 night fighter in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor a model: it is an accessory that makes painting the extensive cockpit glazing and other surfaces cleanly much easier. The masks are stuck straight onto the parts, so the subdivided framing of the glazing gets crisp, straight edges without laborious cutting of adhesive tape. Sets of this kind usually contain circular masks for the wheel discs as well.
The Nakajima J1N1 Gekko, given the Allied code name Irving, was a Japanese twin-engined aircraft which arose as a long-range fighter, proved itself as a reconnaissance machine and finally shone in its night fighter version against American bombers. The type 11 form was among the night fighter variants with obliquely mounted cannons. Its long, markedly framed glazing makes masks a particularly useful accessory on this type.
Lift the mask carefully off the backing with tweezers or the tip of a knife and lay it on a dry, degreased surface. Press the edges down carefully, so that paint cannot run underneath. Apply the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush, and pull the mask off before the coat hardens completely. On strongly curved shapes it helps to seal the edge with masking fluid.
This is a set of painting masks, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
