An injected plastic kit of the Chinese two-seat JJ-7A jet trainer in 1:48 scale by Trumpeter. The model captures the training version derived from the Chinese J-7 fighter, which itself grows out of the design of the MiG-21. The cockpit is arranged in tandem, with the pupil in the front and the instructor in the rear seat.
The JJ-7 is the training variant of the J-7 fighter with a tandem two-seat cockpit instead of a single-seat one. Compared with the single-seat version it has a smaller internal fuel load and an additional tank on the fuselage spine between the canopy and the vertical tail; the lower ventral fin was replaced by a pair of smaller fins. The type served to train fighter pilots.
Finish both cockpits and the landing gear bays before closing the fuselage. Mask the glazing of the long canopy while spraying. A base color, spraying with an airbrush and a gloss varnish under the decals are recommended. The metal surfaces of the engine area can be brought out with a metallic finish applied at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
