A photo-etched set for the interior of a 1:48 model of the German Ju 88A-4 bomber. The metal parts replace the plastic shapes wherever the material should be thin.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Junkers Ju 88 was a twin-engine German bomber and one of the most widely used aircraft of the Second World War. The A-4 version was one of the main production variants. The crew sat together in a glazed forward cockpit, which matters to the modeler: the interior really is visible through the extensive glazing, and a neglected cockpit shows at first glance on the finished model.
The name assigns the set to the interior. Photo-etched metal parts make it possible to produce elements in a thickness a plastic part cannot reach, and to add detail that cannot be molded. Which parts the fret carries and where they belong on the model is shown in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the parts off with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the connecting tabs with a fine file. Make the bends along the marked grooves in a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades. Wash and degrease the metal before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or with two-part epoxy, which gives more time to position the part. Where the photo-etched part seats, level the plastic detail first. Finish and paint the whole interior before you close the fuselage and fit the glazing.
The set is an accessory for a kit; check compatibility against the manufacturer's instructions. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
