1:48 Junkers F.13 – a full photo-etched set from Eduard for finishing a model of the first all-metal airliner.
Responsibility details are not available.
What is inside is a photo-etched metal sheet with details, not plastic parts of the aircraft. This is the full photo-etched version, that is a wider scope than the narrower Zoom range offers. The set is intended to refine a finished kit of this historic airliner.
The Junkers F.13 first flew in June 1919 and is often described as the first all-metal airliner in the world. Its characteristic corrugated duralumin skin, cantilever low wing and enclosed passenger compartment made it a machine that sold to dozens of countries. In the 1920s it formed the backbone of many emerging airlines and it also flew on floats or skis. Surviving examples are prized pieces of museum collections today.
With larger sets it pays to assemble in groups and to try each piece dry first. Tweezers with fine tips and a fresh blade are the basis, and have a metal ruler ready for the folds. Give the metal a coat of primer before painting, otherwise the shade holds poorly on the smooth surface. Anyone who has not worked with photo-etched parts before should start with the larger pieces.
The kit itself, paints and glues are not included with this item.
